A very large ginger that has leaves resembling those of banana and huge, waxy flower heads that are pink or red. They demand a high humidity, loose, rich, organic, fibrous soil. They grow best in bright filtered light. They can be easily grown in containers, the restriction in which will help reduce its large size. It is also known as Etlingera eliator.
