Comments:
This cultivar also goes by the name 'Mathotiana.' It is one of the all time favorite camellias. It produces large showy rosy colored formal flowers with a purple overcast. Plants grow to be quite large, even tree-like in size over time. The foliage is large and the plant makes a strong presence in a garden. Provide a moist, sandy loam, acidic, well drained for best growth, although this cultivar can adapt to a rather broad range of growing condition. As with all camellias, the tea scale insect can be a troublesome pest for plants, especially those plants that are growing under stressful conditions.
