Petunias bloom over a long period if planted early. Plant as early as possible avoiding hard freezes, but early enough for plants to become established before warm temperatures arrive. Plant in full sunlight and in a well drained soil, preferably in a raised bed. Petunias are excellent container plants because they spread and drape over the sides of the containers forming a cascading blanket of flowers.
