Comments:
Like its realtives, this plant is monocarpic. That is, it grows, flowers, sets and matures seed and then dies. It is grown for the nice color contrasts in its leaves. A wonderful container plant that brings visual interest to the landscape. Protection is needed when grown in the upper part of zone 8 and higher. Flowers are yellow-green and occur infrequently and only once on a plant.
