Prefers acidic soils that are moist, rich and have lots of humus. It will grow satisfactorily under less than ideal conditions. Makes a large plant that may reach of height of 5 feet. Cinnamon colored fiber, from which it gets its name, is found near the base and is used in potting orchids.
