Bright green, celery-like foliage may remian as semi-evergreen in warmer areas. Small rachemes of star-shaped, purplish-bronze flowers appear before leaves in spring. An excellent ground cover for shady locations. Inner bark and root have yellow bark and thus the name "Yellowroot". Bronze autumn color can be spactacular. Tolerant of deer, heat & humidity, and strong wind.
