Comments:
Usually grows in a mound to 1-3' tall on unbranched stems. Small, bell-shaped, greenish yellow flowers appear in spring from underneath the arching stems. The flowers are followed by blue-black berries in autumn. Their fleshy rhizomes were eaten by early settlers much in the same way as potatoes.
