Comments: Most garden astilbe are hybrids and come in a wide variety of colors and growth habits. There are native species, but they do not give the flower show produced by the hybrids. Best adapted to conditions of the Upper South and above. Cannot tolerate the hot, humid conditions of the Lower South. In places where conditions are favorable this can be a very successful garden perennial with prominent summer flowers.
