Comments:
Crown is dense on this oval slow growing large shrub or small tree from China. Flaking bark reveals a smooth muscular trunk. Foilage can be a bright red in autumn, most pronounced in the northern part of its range. Fruit is edible and used as in jelly making, as it is very high in pectin.
