This is a perennial that has a rich history as a medicinal plant for treating a number of ailments in early days, primarily liver problems. This small, herbaceous perennial is well suited for the woodland garden where there is a generous amount of humus. While white flowers are the most common, other colors include blue and pink. This plant is also known by the botanical name Hepatica nobilis.
