Comments:
Native to and widley grown in the orient as well as Australia and New Zealand. Flowers and leaves similar to pears grown in Europe and the Americas. There are many varieties and most will need cross-pollination to set fruit which ripens in late summer into fall. Juicy fruit has high water content and is not generally cooked but used fresh. They cold store well and under proper conditions are good for months. Many say that it like apple in taste and crispness.
