Most common and widely distributed crataegus in the South. It grows well in full sunlight, but is a weak specimen in shade. Birds and wildlife food and habitat. Makes a nice moderately sized spring flowering tree. Cedar apple rust and fire blight can sometime be a problem. 'Winter King' is a choice cultivar of green hawthorn.
